  1. Dear Ellen, I can;t believe your book came up when I did a amazon search “agoraphobia and the eyes”. My book is also there, it came out March 13, 2013. I further searched for you on the internet and found your blog. You also go to the same site I go to MD Junction. I have read silver guys entry and it was inspiring. I like you, have agoraphobia and panic attacks and have had them for over 40 years. I wrote my book and self published it through Create Space. They are a division of Amazon. I have a kindle copy priced at .99 and a book at about $5.34. I wrote my book for my relatives to warn them of this disability and to look for it in their children and themselves. I wanted my kindle free but couldn’t get it free and kept my book price low so I could attract as many people as I could. I am not looking to make money from this book but only to warn and help. My story has a very happy ending. I found by accident that most people with agoraphobia have a condition called hyperphoria. This is a condition where one eye is higher than the other. Through the use of prisms put into the glasses most symptoms disappear. I did not look like I had one eye higher than the other. Looking at your picture it doesn’t look like you do either. Please read my book and see if this could apply to you. I would love to talk to you. My only purpose is to help other people like myself. The name of my book is “My Silent Disability” by Yolanda Antonino. With much love, Yolanda

  2. Hi Yolanda!
Thank you for your message! How wonderful that you have written a book to help your family. How creative !! I am so glad your story has a happy ending! I have never heard of hpyerphoria, but will look into it.
I don’t have my book in paper version yet. I have heard of Create Space and was considering trying to publish through them. Did you you have a good experience with that manner of publishing?
It was such a coincidence that you found me through that search!! Ya just never know what can happen through the internet.. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, the wonders of technology! You might want to go to my website to find out a bit more about me and my book 🙂 It is at: http://eaisaksen.com
I will certainly look into your book……
    Stay well!
    Ellen

  3. Hi again, my experience with create space was interesting. When they say self publishing they mean it. They charge more of a flat fee. They will help you with your book cover if you need help in a limited way. Editing, and every thing else is up to you. All in all I thought the process was OK. My grandson helped me. I have seen your website and I really like it. It is so simple and not cluttered. I am thinking of doing one but am not sure how to proceed and what it will cost. I am not an author and never thought in a million years I would write a book. The nice thing about life is we don’t know the future.
If I can help you in any way with the information about the prism glasses please let me know. I like your T-Shirts, it would take a lot of guts to wear one of those. I have spent most of my life trying to hide my problem. But who knows! The very best to you, Yolanda

  4. Hi Yolanda…
I finished your book last night and found it wonderfully easy to read. I could identify with SO much of how your life has been. I too had trouble reading in front of class suddenly while in grammar school. I later used alcohol and valium to try to keep functioning. I thank you for sharing what worked for you in overcoming your limitation. I will look further myself into heterophoria and Dr. Debbie Feinstein’s prism glasses. Perhaps this information will help others too!
